CURRENT TRENDS IN GLOBAL HRM : A Shift towards employee Centric Practices | Chapter 04
The most noteworthy trends in HRM is the attention to mental health and the exploration of worker well-being. Companies are shifting focus to mental health-targeted initiatives such as counselling services, wellness programs, and stress management workshops. The shift comes amid a growing awareness among businesses that workers’ mental health has a direct impact on their productivity and enjoyment of their work. HR departments are now aligning with environments that support employees personally and professionally (Stone, 2021).
One trend isthe increase in flexible work arrangements. With technological advancements and a demand for better worklife balance, remote work and flex hours are globally accepted. These arrangements also give employees more leeway in their schedules and where they work, leading to higher job satisfaction and increased productivity. One of the most prominent HR strategies during this period is implementing these without compromising organizational goals (Rusman Alimin, 2024).
Global human resources management trends also focus on employee development and recognition. Organizational Performance: There will also be a shift away from classical types of'rewards'such as pay bonuses, toward more personalized types of 'rewards,' i.e. recognizing employees for contributions through public acknowledgement, career development opportunities, and flexible benefits (Boxall et al., 2008). In addition, diversity and inclusion are stillhottopics in international human resource management. Now, companies are taking stepstoward proactively building diverse and inclusive workplaces, not just because it’s the right thing to do but also because it drives innovation, creativity and retention. Human resources (HR) departments focus on practices that promote equality in hiring, professional development, and decision-making (Hofstede, 2001).
