TECHNOLOGY IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT : Challenges & Opportunity | Chapter 5

Technology has drastically changed how Human Resource Management(HRM) operates,
posing organizational challenges and opportunities. From artificial intelligence(AI),
HR software, and automation, technology keeps changing how organizations recruit, make
decisions, and engage employees. These innovations have allowed for a more streamlined
experience in several HR processes to facilitate proper decision-making and operations.

Technology's biggest advantage to  HRM is the automation of repetitive tasks. AI powered solutions, for instance, are presently an inherent component of  recruitment processes, where they can  screen resumes, evaluate candidates 'expertise, and, when necessary, conduct  initial interviews. This automation saves  HR professionals significant time and  ensures that hiring decisions are based on  data-driven insights based on facts rather than personal assumptions and anecdotal  evidence. Consequently, organizations can more effectively identify and hire the best talent, which enables the organization to have an overall higher quality (Prasad et al. 2024).

A major technological trend is the use of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS),

which are maintained in HR's, functions. HRIS platforms manage employee records, payroll, and benefits tracking in a  single integrated system. By automating several HR functions, these  systems promote efficiency by decreasing  manual activities, limiting errors, and  guaranteeing compliance with labor laws and regulations. Moreover, HRIS systems generate useful data that allows HR managers to make better employee performance,  turnover, and engagement decisions. The recent shift toward data-driven decision-making enables HR professionals to identify trends, forecast future workforce needs, and design strategies to keep top talent (Prasad et al., 2024).

However, while technology enables tremendous efficiency in HRM, it also brings many challenges. One of  the biggest worries is the possibility of losing the human touch that is so critical in HR practices.

While automation improves efficiency, HR is fundamentally about managing and supporting people, and many employees appreciate IN    person interactions and personalized support. Failure to provide empathetic and  understanding support to employees can lead to disconnection or disengagement in a digitally dominated environment. As a task, HR professionals have to lean towards the positive side, of this balancing        act, where the objective is to ensure that technology helps people as it can for the better (Prasad et al., 2024).
